Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to the journal will first undergo an initial screening by the editor. During this stage, the editor evaluates whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope and focus and whether it is suitable to be assigned to peer reviewers. This initial assessment typically takes approximately one week.

Submissions that pass the initial screening will be assigned to at least one reviewer, following a double-blind peer review process. Based on the review(s), the editor will then make an initial editorial decision. There are three possible outcomes at this stage:

  1. The manuscript is accepted,

  2. The manuscript requires revision and resubmission, or

  3. The manuscript is rejected.
This peer review and decision-making process generally takes 4 to 6 weeks.

The time required to reach a final decision may vary depending on several factors, including the number of review rounds, the responsiveness of authors, and the clarity of the manuscript. On average, the final decision is reached within 2 to 4 months after initial submission.

The total turnaround time for publication depends not only on the factors mentioned above but also on the submission date, the journal’s publication schedule, and the authors’ compliance with publication guidelines. Accepted manuscripts are typically published in the Jurnal Kesehatan within 2 to 4 months after acceptance.
