Artificial Intelligence Policy
Policy Overview
PrimA: Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu Kesehatan recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) can support research, academic writing, editing, and scholarly publishing. Its use is permitted provided that it does not compromise academic integrity, originality, accuracy, confidentiality, or accountability. This policy is informed by the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Our Core Principles
Four principles guide the responsible use of AI in scholarly publishing.

Policy Guidelines
Requirements for authors, reviewers, and editors.
Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI tools for language editing, grammar correction, translation, literature organization, and manuscript structuring, provided that AI does not replace their intellectual contributions.
Authors must critically review AI-assisted content and verify its accuracy against reliable evidence.
Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must disclose generative AI use that makes a substantive contribution to the preparation or content of a submitted manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool and explain its purpose and scope.
The statement may be included in the Methods section, Acknowledgements, or a dedicated disclosure section, as appropriate. Routine spelling and basic grammar correction may be treated differently according to journal requirements.
AI Cannot Be Listed as an Author
AI tools, chatbots, and artificial intelligence systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the work, approve the final manuscript, or be held accountable for its integrity.
Authorship is reserved for eligible human contributors. Authors remain responsible for their published work.
Accuracy and Research Integrity
All AI-generated or AI-assisted information must be verified before inclusion in a manuscript. References, quotations, statistics, and factual claims must be checked against original or reliable sources.
AI must not be used to fabricate data, falsify findings, invent references, conceal plagiarism, or produce misleading scholarly content.
Data Protection and Confidentiality
Authors, editors, and reviewers must protect personal information, patient data, respondent identities, and unpublished research.
Confidential or sensitive information must not be entered into AI services when doing so could violate research ethics approval, data protection requirements, participants' rights, or confidentiality obligations.
Use of AI by Reviewers
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts submitted for peer review. They must not upload confidential manuscript content or unpublished research data to AI services when doing so could compromise confidentiality or violate journal policies.
Where permitted by the journal, AI may support limited review tasks but must not replace independent professional judgment.
Use of AI by Editors
Editors may use appropriate AI tools for administrative or preliminary editorial tasks, provided that confidentiality, objectivity, and data protection are maintained.
AI must not be the sole basis for editorial decisions. Editors remain accountable for decisions concerning manuscript acceptance, rejection, and publication.
Violations of the AI Policy
If inappropriate or undisclosed AI use is suspected, the editorial team may request clarification or additional information from the authors.
Depending on the evidence and seriousness of the concern, the journal may request revisions, require additional disclosure, reject a manuscript, or take appropriate post-publication action. AI detection scores must not be used as the sole basis for concluding that a violation has occurred.
Responsibilities and Compliance
Authors are responsible for manuscript content and integrity. Reviewers are responsible for confidentiality and objective assessment. Editors are responsible for editorial oversight and consistent policy implementation.
AI use does not exempt any party from responsibility for errors, inaccuracies, or ethical violations.
Policy Review and Updates
This policy may be reviewed periodically to reflect developments in AI technology, scholarly publishing ethics, and editorial requirements.
Revisions will be determined by the journal's management and communicated through the journal's official channels.
